Genesis 6:5-13 (abbreviated) -"The LORD observed the extent of human wickedness on the earth, and he saw that everything they thought or imagined was consistently and totally evil. So the LORD was sorry he had ever made them and put them on the earth. It broke his heart. And the LORD said, "I will wipe this human race I have created from the face of the earth.
Noah was a righteous man, the only blameless person living on earth at the time, and he walked in close fellowship with God. Now God saw that the earth had become corrupt and was filled with violence. So God said to Noah, “I have decided to destroy all living creatures, for they have filled the earth with violence. Yes, I will wipe them all out along with the earth!

(Note: the whole reason for the flood was violence - i.e. people abusing one another.)

Psalm 55:12-14,20-21 -"It is not enemies who taunt me - I could bear that; It is not adversaries who deal insolently with me - I could hide from them. But it is you, my equal, my companion (or spouse), my familiar friend, with whom I kept pleasant company. We walked in the house of God with the throng.... My companion laid hands on a friend and violated a covenant with me. With speech smoother than butter, but with a heart set on war/violence; With words that were softer than oil, but in fact were drawn swords."

Colossians 3:19 - "Husbands, love your wives, and never treat them harshly."

Psalm 11:5 - "The LORD tests the righteous; But the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates."

Psalm 10:17-18 -"You hear, O Lord, the desire of the afflicted; you encourage them and you listen to their cry, defending the fatherless and the oppressed, in order that man, who is of the earth, may terrify no more."

2 Samuel 22:28 - "You will save the humble people; But Your eyes are on the haughty, that You may bring them down."

James 3:10 - "Out of the same mouth proceed blessing and cursing. My brethren these things ought not to be so."

Zephaniah 1:9 - "In the same day I will punish all those who leap over the threshold, who fill their masters' houses with violence and deceit."

Proverbs 10:6 - "Blessings are on the head of the righteous, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked."

Proverbs 11:29-30 - "He who brings trouble on his family will inherit only wind, and the fool will be a servant to the wise. The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he who wins souls is wise"

Malachi 2:16 - "...and I hate a man's covering himself with violence as well as with his garment, says the Lord Almighty."

James 1:19-20 - "So then, my beloved brethren, let every person be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to get angry; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God (lifestyle God desires for us)."

Matthew 5:22-24 - "You have heard that it was said to those of old, "You shall not murder, and whoever murders will be in danger of judgment." But I say to you that whoever is angry with his brother (or sister, or wife, or child) without a cause shall be in danger of judgment. And whoever calls another person an idiot shall be brought before the court. But, whoever curses someone is in danger of the fires of hell." (Note: Based on the Book of Job, to curse someone is to wish they had never been born. It is a denial of their very existence. Ignoring or neglecting needy people, or one's responsibility to a child or spouse in need is a manner of cursing them, as well.)

Ephesians 4;31 - "Get rid of all bitterness, rage, anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil behavior."

PSALM 72:14 - "He will redeem their life from oppression and violence, for their lives are precious in His sight."

PSALM 9:9 - "The LORD is a shelter for the oppressed, a refuge in times of trouble"

Psalm 146:7 - "He gives justice to the oppressed and food to the hungry."

Psalm 140:12 - "But I know the LORD will help those they persecute; he will give justice to the poor."
